Day 4 - Melt Away

I woke up at 8:30 this morning, but I didn't open my eyes. I laid there listening to the sounds of the life in this house. My daughter who got up way too early quietly playing, the coffee grinder running, the sun getting ready to shine right on my face.

So I got up.

I snatched my half read book off my night stand and grabbed my soft blanket. Shuffling down the stairs to the refreshing smell of coffee brewing.

I spent most of the morning in somebody else's world. The world of my book. Only half returning when food, drink or attention was needed from my good little girl. Sometimes she's likes to listen to me read my books out loud. I don't think she understands all of it, but maybe the sound of my voice soothes her.

I finished that book. I closed the cover and looked up to find the sun dancing around my feet. For a couple of hours the book was still with me and I was not fully in my own life. The magical golden sunlight streaming in the window was just as dreamy.

For the first time in a long time it doesn't feel like my heart is covered in the cold snow. As the sun melts away at the snow outside so it melts away the snow that covered my heart this winter.

Take me away beautiful sun to that magical place called Summer.

Day 35 - Time

Some days my motto is "it's only a matter of time before I aquire everything I dream of", which is really not that much honestly. I want to live in the country, own my own broken down farmhouse that I can fix up myself however I want, grow my own food, listen to nature, explore, run. And then other days my motto becomes a little less positive "it's taking too much time to aquire my dreams, so I give up".

Today it's the latter, but tomorrow is a new day...

Day 25 - Flip It

Jan let me borrow her flip it for my flash. It's really fun! So I've been brushing up on my flash skills because I have a photoshoot for a friends CD release party tomorrow night. He's using one of my photos for the cover too! yay!

Ron Greene. He's an amazing musician and I'm not just saying that because he's my friend. You should definitely check out his Sketches CD when it comes out.

Day 65 - dream home

we went out to Loon Lake to visit some of my sister's friends. they have been building their dream home for the past 4 years on this amazing piece of 20 acres. recently her husband was offered a job he couldn't pass up and now that they are finally almost finished with their gorgeous home they have to sell it. i think i would cry!! this house and land are seriously breathtaking. the picture doesn't do it justice. this is the view you can see from the living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and library. if i could afford it i would buy it so fast they wouldn't know what happened. somebody from Chicago is flying out just so he can see the house (and maybe buy it) that's how awesome it is.

Day 136 - dog sitter

we are watching my sisters dog for the weekend. you have all seen him before. I love this guy. he is the most laid back dog you will ever meet. it's been fun watching him and a good excercise to see if we are ready to have one of our own someday. I can say as of right now O is NOT ready. she bugged him so much that he growled at her and that is a hard thing to accomplish with this dog. he is seriously mr. mellow and lets her do a lot before he gives her a warning growl.

Day 16 - Perspective

Mustafa: [taking Ego's order] Do you know what you'd like this evening, sir?
Anton Ego: Yes, I think I do. After reading a lot of overheated puffery about your new cook, you know what I'm craving? A little perspective. That's it. I'd like some fresh, clear, well seasoned perspective. Can you suggest a good wine to go with that?
Mustafa: With what, sir?
Anton Ego: Perspective. Fresh out, I take it?
Mustafa: I am, uh...
Anton Ego: Very well. Since you're all out of perspective and no one else seems to have it in this BLOODY TOWN, I'll make you a deal. You provide the food, I'll provide the perspective, which would go nicely with a bottle of Cheval Blanc 1947.
Mustafa: Uhm... Your meal, sir?

It's easy to lose perspective sometimes. I try to remember to find it again once I realize I've lost it. Sometimes that's easier said than done. Me feeling this way is probably a little bit of left over ripples from yesterday. Of course this cute little face helps me see a little more clearly.
